JADENE TAGER

Jadene is an accomplished radio presenter, traffic presenter and entertainment reporter (in both radio and TV) with 11 years’ experience in the industry. She is passionate about her career in broadcasting, and is driven by a desire to meet people and to network with successful personalities in various industries. She is currently on air at Power 98.7, and has previously worked at 947 and 702.

Jadene began her fitness journey in 2017 and has since lost 20 kilograms. In 2015 she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia - a chronic condition characterised by muscular or musculoskeletal pain with stiffness and localised tenderness at specific points on the body. Fibromyalgia causes widespread pain, fatigue and other types of discomfort, and symptoms resemble those of arthritis. Jadene has used regular exercise, balanced clean eating and a healthy weight loss regime as the best overall formula to keep her pain extremely well managed and under control.

What does fitness mean to you?
Fitness is about consistency along your journey. It’s a personal journey that should never be compared to anyone else’s. It’s not just about the weight loss, losing the centimeters or toning, it’s about edifying how you feel on the inside which helps change how you look on the outside.

Why should someone attend FIBO Africa in October?
I would definitely encourage anyone who hasn’t already begun their fitness journey or anyone who wants to start a new one to attend FIBO Africa. It will be the number one place to get all your fitness answers, the fitness gear, the encouragement and the motivation.

What are your top two fitness tips?
1. Fitness starts in the kitchen - make sure you’re eating the right way for your body to transform the right way.
2. Change it up and try different forms of fitness. Don’t get stuck in the same daily routine - keep it enjoyable!

How did your fitness journey start?
My fitness journey only really started at the beginning of 2017 when decided I wasn’t going to let fibromyalgia control my life any longer. Exercise and fitness has really been an amazing healing formula for me.

What is your advice to someone who is wanting to start their fitness journey?
You can start today, you can also start tomorrow and you can definitely do this!
